Hyderabad Metro Rail, a
turning point in the history of Hyderabad is all set to make its grand entry
with the first operational phase from Nagole-Mettuguda. This is the stage I of
Nagole-Shilparamam corridor, also called as Corridor III. According to latest
reports, a major part of the works at the Metro Stations on the Nagole to
Mettuguda stretch have almost been completed while work on approach roads near
the Metro stations and the proposed pavements are now being completed. The
tentative inauguration date is March 21, 2015.
There are a total of 315
piers in this approximately 8.01 km stretch between Nagole and Mettuguda. All
the stations in this stage are being ramped up with staircases, elevators and
platform works that are in advanced stage of construction. With seven stations
on the route, namely Nagole, Uppal, NGRI, Survey of India, Habsiguda, Tarnaka
and Mettuguda, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad is expecting school going children,
professionals, college students, senior citizens and also
home-makers to make use of this new world-class transit. There are station
committees being formed to guide commuters in using this new facility.
The Nagole to Mettuguda
stretch is expected to ease traffic in the busy junction of Uppal, Tarnaka and
Mettuguda, which are some of the key transit points in this part of the city.
This would benefit commuters who intend to travel towards Warangal and
Vijayawada and also those planning to travel to Secunderabad railway station.
Traffic issues are expected to easen up, while rapid development is being
anticipated complementing with the growing patronage for metro rail
services. The overall transformation of this region connecting
Hyderabad and Secunderabad is all set to begin with the start of commercial
operations.
In the first couple of
months, the authorities of Metro are expecting many visitors from different
parts of Hyderabad city and also the state. The countdown has started as people
are eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse and feel the experience of the metro
journey. The first stage of Hyderabad Metro Rail, once operational
marks a major milestone of this project that has successfully cleared many
challenges to eventually become a dream come true for the denizens of
Hyderabad.
