City Acquaintance – Khairatabad

The much-awaited infrastructure dream project of Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Metro Rail is now in its countdown phase with the first phase of its operations all set to begin this year. The project has come a long way, from its inception in the form of pillars and erection works to the current brisk pace of construction.

The project has three corridors in its initial phase and LB Nagar-Miyapur stretch represents the Corridor I of Hyderabad Metro Rail, which is nearly 29 km in length. The corridor has 27 stations and Khairatabad is a key station situated between the Lakdi-ka-pul and Irrum Manzil metro stations.
If there is any region that can be truly called as the heart of Hyderabad, it is Khairatabad. This locality connects modern Hyderabad with traditionally renowned parts of Hyderabad.  The corridor I is an important section connecting two distant suburbs of the city and connectivity through a key intersection of Hyderabad like Khairatabad is an advantage for commuters.

The Khairatabad metro station is also being built at an impressive pace while the pillars and viaducts too are in place connecting important parts of the city. With the development of Cyberabad, there has been a shift in the region’s growth favourably towards areas like Madhapur and Gachibowli, but the Metro which comes with a promise of equitable development across all localities is all set to provide a fillip for the region. Once this corridor is operational, Khairatabad is expected to regain its status as an important commercial hub that lies in the midst of major thoroughfares connecting various regions of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Metro Rail is geared up to transform this well known locality of Hyderabad and Khairatabad will be an important part of the project, ushering modern and rapid connectivity that would transform the public transportation system in the city!

City Acquaintance - JNTU

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Hyderabad Metro Rail is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects for the city in many decades.  In fact, a potential game changer, the city is looking forward to a future of modern transport in the form of this Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), which is expected to transform the way we travel in Hyderabad.

The project has three corridors and one of them is the vital Corridor I from Miyapur to LB Nagar, for a distance of nearly 29 km with 27 stations. JNTU is the second station after Miyapur on this corridor which connects North West part of Hyderabad from Mumbai Highway to South East Hyderabad, i.e. Vijayawada Highway.

JNTU is a key junction which has been serving as the destination of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Kukatpally locality of Hyderabad. Of late, it has also been connected to Hi-tech city area through a new route developed a decade ago. It is an educational and also a residential hub catering to lakhs of commuters who pass through this area every day.

Metro Rail project is at an advanced stage of construction with JNTU metro station already being completed. The corridor is also witnessing trail runs on Miyapur - SR Nagar section which passes through JNTU. Once completed, the metro rail is expected to ease the traffic congestion whilst providing greater connectivity and convenience to commuters of this region in Hyderabad.

JNTU metro station is also being spruced up to host many retail stores, ATM’s and other outlets for maximum benefit of commuters so that apart from travel, even their shopping needs can be fulfilled. With a host of commuter friendly facilities and modern features, the metro project in this region is all set to script a new growth story, aided by a modern public transportation system like Hyderabad Metro Rail.

The metro stations, which are an important part of this project, are coming up across three corridors envisaged in the first phase. The stations dotting many areas of the city are the lifeline of the project with several amenities and facilities offered for the comfort of travellers.

Gone are the days when stations used to be only a place for alighting and departing trains and few refreshments. The stations of Hyderabad Metro Rail are all set to host many retail stores, which can also complete your shopping needs, in a hassle free manner.

As part of this initiative, many stores are coming up in each station and one of them is convenience stores. With this facility, you no longer need to worry about buying your groceries by allocating extra time on a holiday or even a working day.

This remarkable feature is an added advantage with your metro travel. Hyderabad Metro Rail realizes how valuable your time is and has come up with this new concept of retail stores at Metro stations itself, wherein you can also buy ice creams, dairy products, get recharges done, pay bills, avail laundry services and much more.

Truly a boon for the denizens of Hyderabad, the convenience stores will make your life simpler, and save your precious time.
