It
would not be an exaggeration to say that Hyderabad Metro Rail is one of the
most ambitious infrastructure projects for the city in many decades. In fact, a potential game changer, the city is
looking forward to a future of modern transport in the form of this Mass Rapid
Transit System (MRTS), which is expected to transform the way we travel in
Hyderabad.
The
project has three corridors and one of them is the vital Corridor I from
Miyapur to LB Nagar, for a distance of nearly 29 km with 27 stations. JNTU is
the second station after Miyapur on this corridor which connects North West
part of Hyderabad from Mumbai Highway to South East Hyderabad, i.e. Vijayawada
Highway.
JNTU
is a key junction which has been serving as the destination of the prestigious
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Kukatpally locality of Hyderabad.
Of late, it has also been connected to Hi-tech city area through a new route developed
a decade ago. It is an educational and also a residential hub catering to lakhs
of commuters who pass through this area every day.
Metro
Rail project is at an advanced stage of construction with JNTU metro station
already being completed. The corridor is also witnessing trail runs on Miyapur
- SR Nagar section which passes through JNTU. Once completed, the metro rail is
expected to ease the traffic congestion whilst providing greater connectivity
and convenience to commuters of this region in Hyderabad.
JNTU
metro station is also being spruced up to host many retail stores, ATM’s and
other outlets for maximum benefit of commuters so that apart from travel, even
their shopping needs can be fulfilled. With a host of commuter friendly
facilities and modern features, the metro project in this region is all set to
script a new growth story, aided by a modern public transportation system like
Hyderabad Metro Rail.
