IGBC PLATINUM CERTIFICATION AWARDED TO 17 HYDERABAD METRO RAIL STATIONS


Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has introduced IGBC Green Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) rating to encourage eco-friendly ‘green’ aesthetics, construction and operation. The rating system assists to address national priorities like conserving natural resources, save energy and water, renewable energy and waste management that will benefit passenger health and comfort.

IGBC Platinum Certification was awarded to 17 elevated stations of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project - Stage I & II.

·         Uppal
·         Survey of India
·         NGRI
·         Habsiguda
·         Tarnaka
·         Mettuguda
·         Miyapur
·         JNTU College
·         KPHB Colony
·         Kukatpally
·         Balanagar
·         Moosapet
·         Bharat Nagar
·         Erragadda
·         ESI Hospital
·         S.R.Nagar
Above mentioned Hyderabad Metro Rail stations have scored 75 points each as per the selection criteria. These ratings are based on six environmental categories as defined by IGBC Green Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) which include –
·         Site Selection & Planning
·         Water Efficiency
·         Energy Efficiency
·         Material Conservation
·         Indoor Environment & Comfort
·         Innovation in Design & Construction

The prestigious award was presented by Mr C N Raghavendran, Chairman, IGBC - Chennai Chapter in presence of Mr A.K.Tewari, Adviser (EnHM), Railway Board, Ministry of Railways and Mr V Suresh, Chairman, Policy & Advocacy Committee, IGBC.

 Mr. Shivanand Nimbargi, MD & CEO, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, stated “It is a proud moment for L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited. The IGBC Platinum rating reinstates the fact that L&T has followed the best international practices in constructing the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project. Kudos to the entire Hyderabad Metro Rail team for this spectacular feat.”
Mr. K P Sreehari, Head, Quality & EHS, LTMRHL, and Ms. Shubhra Khullar, Manager, Project Control, LTMRHL received the IGBC award.
